The top contender for Kibwezi West MP Hon Wakili Mutuse Mwengi has pledged to help form and empower a savings and credit co-operative society (SACCO) for clergy in Kibwezi to help foster their economic well-being and cater for their daily needs and those of their families.
Hon Mutuse Mwengi who spoke while attending inter-denominational prayers organized by Kalii Location Pastors Forum that brings together 25 different churches said it is time the leadership appreciated that pastors too have daily needs that need to be met to allow them to focus on serving the community.
“I strongly believe that leadership has to now focus on the economic well-being of the clergy. To this end, we shall work with clergy in Kibwezi to form and empower own SACCO’s. This way, pastors will have sustainable revolving funds to cater for their daily needs and those of their families. Reality is that pastors too have daily needs even as they preach about life after death,” said Hon Mutuse.
At the same time, Hon Mutuse who was on a three-day development tour of Makindu Ward hailed the the sermon on the need for leaders to plant seeds of development instead merely throwing around slogans as timely. “I loved the preaching that leaders must plant a seed of development not empty sloganeering if they hope to see the Kingdom of God,” he said.
