Hillary Sigei is a man on a mission to raise the bar in the oversight of devolution in Bomet County and end the curse of stammering, incoherent and inarticulate Senators which is visited on the them in the last two successive terms. You can be forgiven for thinking the last two Bomet Senators took a vow of silence to keep peace. They are hardly seen, barely heard and scarcely known. Many children in Bomet County would fail their exams if they were asked who is their Senator or what he has done in the last 4 years. It is a blot that the Former and the Incumbent Senators of Bomet have constantly struggled to keep up with the standard set by the other senators across Rift Valley and the county has been the poorer for it.
Thankfully, Wakili Hillary Sigei’s has launched his senatorial bid to correct this anomaly and has committed to offer Bomet County Residents the representation they deserve once he gets to the Senate. If it was anyone else, you could say he is overpromising but Hillary Sigei is exactly what a graduate from the Ruto School of Leadership would look like if there was one. He has worked very closely with the Deputy President and his close associates in the last decade to learn what it takes to offer competent political representation to the electorate. On matters of law, he is not Senator Kipchumba Murkomen’s boss at SMS Advocates for nothing, the man is on top of his game and knows his stuff!
“The incumbent Senator of Bomet has made less than 10% of the appearances made by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator since 2017. To be precise, Bomet Senator has made 756 appearances since 2017 where Elgeyo Marakwet Senator has appeared a total of 7,528 times to address issues of concern to his constituents. Surely, do you mean to tell me Bomet County Residents deserve 10% of the Oversight and 10% of the representation afforded Elgeyo Marakwet County residents by their Senator? Things here have to change for the better, Bomet people are not children of a lesser God,” says Wakili Hillary Sigei.
There is no doubt if what Bomet Residents need is an articulate representative who understands the principles and objectives of Devolution and is capable of going over and above in protecting their interests and those of their county in and out of the Senate, Lawyer Hillary Sigei is the best and only man for the job. Having made his name as a leading litigation lawyer in Nairobi and acted in nail-biting, bet the golden goose, precedent setting cases across Kenya, there is no question Hillary Sigei can and will hold his own in the Senate where the level of discussion has proven daunting for all the Senators from Bomet so far.
Hillary Sigei has over 15 years’ post admission experience in the legal and business sectors with ten (10) of those years spend managing and leading legal teams handling complex commercial and litigation matters. Currently, he is the Managing Partner of SMS Advocates and is responsible for ensuring the firm delivers on its promises and lives up to the expectations of clients. It goes without saying that Hillary Sigei has good understanding of law and excellent interpersonal skills being one of the humblest lawyers in practice in Kenya today for many of those who know him. As managing partner, Hillary Sigei
As an advocate, Hillary Sigei has been the lead Advocate representing Jubilee Nominated MPs and Senators threatened with ouster from the party and their office for associating with Deputy President. He has acted for many senior Kenyans and obtained and enforced life-changing court orders in the last 4 years alone. He has been at the forefront in the fight to contain the aggression of the system through several public interest cases since the advent of handshake. As a testament of his growing political stature, he was also appointed to sit as a Member of the Dispute Resolution Committee and Tribunal established on ad-hoc basis by URP and Jubilee Political Parties.
Hillary Sigei holds Masters of Laws (LLM) specializing in International Trade and Investments Graduate and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), both from University of Nairobi, and a Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law. He is a Board Member of Good Neighbors, an International Humanitarian NGO, and Member of the Board of Management of his alma mater, Tenwek High School, national School in Bomet County, where he represents the Alumni Association. Clearly, Hillary Sigei promises to bring solid expertise and superior experience to the Office of Senator of Bomet elected to it next year.
