    Kevin Bahati, known as Bahati, is a famous Kenyan musician who started in gospel music and later moved into secular music. Despite facing tough times early in life, such as losing his parents and growing up in an orphanage in Mathare slums, Bahati found hope in music. His career took off when he began sharing his songs on YouTube, and he became well-known in 2013 with his hit song “Mama.” This song made him a big name in gospel music.

    Bahati Biography

    Early Life

    Kevin Bahati, born on December 22, 1992, in Kitui, Kenya, faced significant challenges early in life. His parents passed away when he was 7 years old, leading him to seek refuge at the ABC orphanage in the Mathare slums of Nairobi. Despite these hardships, Bahati’s resilience and passion for music began to shine through during his school years.

    He attended Nakheel High School in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado, and later transferred to Eastleigh Boys High School. In 2011, he completed his secondary education by taking the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams, where he scored a C+ grade.

    Career

    Kevin Bahati’s music career began in 2012, shortly after he finished high school. He initially gained attention by recording and uploading his songs on YouTube, quickly building a following. His breakthrough came in 2013 with the release of “Mama,” a heartfelt song dedicated to mothers. He later released other great gospel songs like Barua, Machozi, and Ndogo Ndogo, among others.

    Bahati later transitioned into secular music, broadening his artistic range and reaching new audiences. He has released great hits like Adhiambo, Abebo, Size Yangu, and Mtaachana Tu among others.

    Marriage and Family

    Kevin Bahati is married to Diana Marua, and their love story is nothing short of a romantic comedy. The couple tied the knot in a traditional wedding ceremony in October 2017, rocking matching maroon. Bahati and Diana often share their family life with their fans on social media, giving followers a front-row seat to their hilarious and heartwarming moments.  

    The Bahatis family comprises both biological and adopted kids. Bahti had an adopted son Morgan before marrying Diana. The couple is blessed with three kids Heaven Bahati, Majesty Bahati, and Malaika Bahati whose face was revealed while launching The Bahatis Empire. Kevin Bahati has a daughter named Mueni Bahati with his former partner, Yvette Obura. Although they are no longer romantically involved, Bahati and Yvette have successfully co-parented and kept a friendly relationship to ensure their daughter’s well-being.

    Bahati Polical Career

    In the 2022 Kenyan general elections, Kevin Bahati tried his hand at politics by running for the Mathare parliamentary seat with the Jubilee Party. He received 8,166 votes, finishing third. The winner was Oluoch with 28,098 votes, followed by UDA’s Billian Ojiwa, who got 16,912 votes.

    During a performance at Zetech University last, Kevin Bahati surprised students by sharing his plans to pursue a degree at their institution as part of his preparation for the upcoming elections. While he hasn’t disclosed the specific county for his gubernatorial ambitions, there’s a buzz among people suggesting that he might be eyeing a run against Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja in 2027. Bahati’s announcement has sparked curiosity and anticipation, with many intrigued to see how his political journey unfolds in the years to come.
