- The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has released maximum fuel prices from 15th June to 14th July 2024.
- The period in review has seen a drop in the prices of Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene.
In a press release dated 14th June and signed by the Director General, Daniel Kiptoo, the price of Super petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene decreased by Ksh.3.00, Ksh.6.08, and Ksh.5.71 per liter, respectively.
According to EPRA, the prices above include the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with provisions of the Finance Act 2023 and Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2020. The prices also reflect the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020.
With the new prices in force by midnight, in Nairobi Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene will retail at Ksh.189.84, Ksh.173.10, and Ksh. 163.05 per litre, respectively.
In Mombasa, Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene will retail at Ksh. 186.66, Ksh. 169.93, and Ksh. 160.00 per litre, respectively.
In Nakuru, Super Petrol will retail at Ksh. 188.90/L, Diesel at Ksh. 172.54/L, and Kerosene at Ksh.162.57/L.
Eldoret consumers will get the Super Petrol at Ksh.189.67/L, Diesel at Ksh. 173.31/L and Kersone at Ksh. 163.34/L.
While Kenyans enjoy the new fuel price drop, there is a likelihood of an increase in fuel prices after the lapse of the 30 days. This might happen if the proposal by the Ministry of Transport to increase the Fuel Levy Charge by Ksh. 7.00 from the current Ksh.18.00, is adopted through the passage of Finance Bill 2024 in Parliament.
